Goddess Kannon is one of the most important and revered deities in Japanese Buddhism, but she comes from India, and is known there as the incarnation of the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. Kannon is the goddess of compassion and mercy. All over Japan, believers turn to her in difficult times and it is believed that she comes in 33 different images. According to legends, thanks to prayers, she helps to get rid of evil demons, remain unharmed in fire, escape from the hands of robbers and murderers, survive in the depths of the sea. Kannon grants women successful conception and easy childbirth. The goddess is also the patroness of the animal world. And another small but interesting fact... one of the most famous companies producing copying and photo equipment, Canon, is named after this goddess.
