Antique wall panel
Antique wall panel with a portrait of a girl from the Kraswitz gallery of King Ludwig I of Bavaria. The portrait is dressed in an original wooden frame made of wood and gilding with the use of numerous decorative elements, decorated with a rich floral ornament with through-carving. Europe, XX century.
In 1827, King Ludwig I of Bavaria came up with the idea to create a portrait gallery of beauties and decorate his residence in Munich with their portraits. By order of the king, the court artist Karl Josef Stiller created more than thirty portraits of girls from various walks of life. At the same time, various products with similar portraits became massively fashionable and began to be made.
