Antique vase ovoid shape, made in the shape of a dragon's egg. Ceramics. Japan, 1970s

Dragons have always lived apart from people, although they occupy a high position in mythology, due to their wisdom and ability to accumulate wealth, gems and treasures. People were afraid of them, but continued to idolize them. Finding a dragon egg is akin to finding an edelweiss, a flower that grows high in the crevices of the mountains and finds it only worthy and stubborn. Dragons are covered with the mystery of life and death, combining the beginning and the end. The dragon is the parent of many rulers who descended the golden staircase in human form and, completing their reign, went back to Heaven along it. This legend can be found in the Bardo Thodol, the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Dragons are the oldest creatures, a symbol of mighty strength, power, honesty, order and wealth.
