Antique wine fountain
A wine fountain or “samovar in reverse” is often found in the homes of noblemen and has been decorating their festive tables since the 18th century. The fountain was intended for cooling wine and various drinks. A pipe runs through the center of the fountain, which is filled with ice to cool drinks, but if warm punch or mulled wine is served, then instead of ice, the flask is heated on fire and lowered into the drink. Externally, wine fountains resemble samovars or elegant vases with handles, richly decorated with paintings. Such items were popular in Europe, and now they can become a wonderful and original decoration for a festive table or just an interesting piece of furniture. Europe, XIX century
