Antique vase

Antique vase with a plot from the Japanese epic. Made of porcelain, painted with paints and gilding, the ornament also contains silver paint. The vase bears the marking of one of Kutani's workshops "大日本鏑木製" - "Great Japan, Kaburaki". The body of the vase depicts a Christian scene from the Japanese epic “Taiheiki” (“Tales of the Great World”), when the samurai Honma Suketada, before his death, wrote a poetic message to his son on the temple gate with his blood. Japan, beginning of the twentieth century.

The Kaburaki workshop was founded in Kanazawa during the reign of the 11th Tokugawa shogun in 1822 as the first family enterprise of the Kaburaki family. During the heyday of Kutani porcelain production during the Meiji and Taisho periods (1868~1926), Kaburaki Kutani ware was exhibited at various venues at home and abroad, as well as at world exhibitions. In those days, Kaburaki gained a reputation for producing high-quality products.
