Antique vase, Satsuma
Antique vase with images of plants and birds. The vase is covered with craquelure. There is a stamp of Satsuma workshops. Japan, XX century.
The Satsuma style got its name in honor of the province where production began. The earliest known products date back to the middle of the XVII century, when the shard was still dark in color. And the world-famous Satsuma-style products appeared at the end of the Edo era. The founder of the style is considered to be the master Kinkozan Sobei, it was he who began working with very thin creamy-white porcelain, painting it in a characteristic manner.
