Antique okimono Ebisu. The figures of the god Ebisu and the red perch (red pangur or tai) are made of porcelain. The sculpture comes with a pedestal and a wooden case. Japan, 20th century. 


 The god Ebisu is the patron of trade and fishing, and is one of the seven gods of happiness (shitifukujin) in Shintoism. The sculpture is placed on a wooden base made of mahogany. Red is the color of good luck, health, and prosperity, and it is a symbol of offering and favor to God.
